FULL EXPLANATION OF FARPS AND ROADBASES
1. FARP DUBLIN - AV-8B ONLY
Single short strip and Helipad situated on the shores of the Shaori Reservoir just north of Tkibuli. The strip itself has a slight bend to it and is much shorter than the other strips. Really only safe for Harriers- let me know if you can land anything else there. Harriers are based here, so you can start on the ground (very pretty if I do say so myself).
PS: If you can manage to get a Viggen down, post the video to the DCS Multiplayer page and I'll send you a virtual hi-5.
2. FARP LONDON
Two-Strip Roadbase with single Helipad. Harrier, Viggen, Hornet tested strip. The most functionally complete road-base, this one runs through the town of Tkibuli itself. The landing strip runs parallel to a railway line. Touchdown point is between the two "green-spot" railway trucks that were brought down yesterday. Follow the road under the Thomas the Tank-Engine Memorial Bridge to the rearming and refueling bays (functional only for Viggens with the kneeboard). Continue to the T intersection. Make a very sharp left turn towards the bridge (High-Gain NWS / Reverser advised) and cross the Jurassic Park Memorial Bridge and keep going through the woods until you get to the take-off strip (marked by white tires). The take-off strip has a strong ski-jump to assist with getting off the ground. Advise you use some light right rudder to clear the trees, especially in the Viggen and Hornet.
PS: Harriers can use the bridge between their starting point and the take-off strip as a ski-jump, but you need to be on top of things. You could also take-off from the landing strip but be mindful of traffic and the slige tailwind.
3. FARP PARIS (Tack sa* mycket till R. and J. Borjesson)
Single-Strip Roadbase with Viggen rearming and Helicopter FARP. Land just after the T-junction following the flares. Around the corner you will fine Viggen rearming and two hangars. 4 Harriers spawn here- you can see how awkward it is to place aircraft on the ground and have them face forward. Helipad after the left hand road.
4. FARP DALLAS
Single Strip with full helicopter FARP. Much longer field, with the potential to recover even the MiG-21 safely. After land, take the second right and rearm. Follow the road around and take off on the same strip in the opposite direction.
PS: This is a good strip to train at. It's flat and extra long- like a pizza sub that's been toasted by the flaming hammer of Myoninspori.
5. FARP BERLIN - Clients don't have powerlines removed!
Straight-Through combined Landing and Take-off strips. Land from the West as per usual- thought be mindful of the FARP that is hidden in the trees just short of the landing strip. Check in with your LSO to deconflict. Also note the landing point is some distance in from the trees to give you clearance. Braking can be fairly gentle because (like Dallas) this strip is very long. Stop in the trees and rearm (if you're a Viggen) and then take off straight through.
Note the hill just after the rearming stations? These act as thrust deflectors. It is possible to take off straight from the reaming stations but this sudden drop has the potential to damage the gear or lead to momentary engine stall behaviour in the Viggen.
